Bad immigration makes for Fake "equality"

The Archbishop of York came to Britain because of Idi Amin. The Ugandan dictator is long gone, but the Archbishop is still here. This is a serious flaw in the asylum system. His successor next June has already said he will promote "diversity". Unequal immigration laws (biased against Brits) result in fake "equality". Everyone in the world in a war zone has the legal right to set up home anywhere in the UK. Take back control of our borders makes no sense unless and until we Leave the 1948 UN Convention on Refugees. So, come on, Boris Johnson, "Get it done!" Just sign a piece of paper. Baby Jesus was allowed into Egypt because the Egyptians and/or Romans had control of their borders, not because of a decades-old international agreement. And he soon returned to his own country.

The Struggle to Cast a Vote

In the 3 TV debates in the run-up to the 2010 General Election immigration was the most discussed topic next to the economy. The Conservatives' David Cameron said he wanted a "cap"; Labour's Gordon Brown said he wanted a "points system" - he was Prime Minister, so he could have had a points system, but didn't!;and LibDem's Nick Clegg said he wanted to legalise the status of illegal aliens (which he also said, 3 times, wasn't an amnesty). What must foreigners think of all this? I wondered. They must think we're all daft! I didn't want to waste my vote, so I voted UKIP. But I voted Remain in the 23 June 2016 EU Referendum. (My reasons are in this blog of 10 June 2016.) One-third of the electorate didn't vote in the election of 12 December 2019. #Me too. I didn't. The Conservatives won with a big majority, and a promise to Leave the European Union and to bring in an immigration points system. This latter promise is a smokescreen to disguise what could/should be done but won't be - e.g.ending the privilege of Muslims to bring in 4 "wives" and their children to live in the UK; reforming the chaotic asylum system; and stopping foreign men from using marriage to live in the UK....Not to mention deporting the over 1 million people who are living illegally in the UK, contrary to the much-vaunted Rule of Law championed by Western democracies.....

Border Control

Election Promises! We will control our borders! How can Conservative politicians get away with saying this when everyone can see that illegal aliens aren't deported? The UK Border Force (which, perversely, helps them get to England! contrary to its original purpose)is allowed to operate in France. This great concession may well be denied after the UK leaves the European Union. As it is, the UK is greatly privileged because, together with the Republic of Ireland, it's not signed up to the Shengen Agreement, and so is independent of much of the EU's immigration laws.

Points System = No Freedom of Movement

Britain's Brexit crisis is mainly caused by immigration. But there was no question about immigration at the last of the TV debates (held last night) before next Thursday's General Election. However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson did say a couple of times that, if the Conservatives are elected, there would be an Australian-style points system. Western Europe has had the benefit of freedom of movement since 1945. So my question is: Will there still be freedom of movement throughout Western Europe except for 4 countries in these fractured islands in its North-West corner? Because a points system is incompatible with freedom of movement. And it's not just England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that have to be considered when it comes to immigration controls; there is the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.... Borders are porous if loopholes aren't catered for, and controls rendered pointless....

Language Traduces Thought, Part 2 (Part 1 was on 18 April 2017)

The Prime Minister's claim to be truthful caused derision among the studio audience at the first TV debate in the Run-up to the General Election of 12 December. Truth is said to be the first casualty of war, which is said to be politics by other means. And words themselves conceal the truth in war. Thucydides wrote in "The Peloponnesian War" in the 5th c. BC that cowardice is called tactical retreat, and so on. Thucydides also wrote that war in one place causes people to move somewhere else, which causes another war. Migrants are people who emigrate from one country to live in another. Only EU citizens are entitled to migrate to the UK without a visa. But because EU citizens come here probably not intending to cut connections with their own country it is wrong to call them migrants. The same is true, of course, of people who live in the UK on a Spouse Visa. They retain their own nationality, and can live in their own country if they feel so inclined, so they are foreigners not migrants. While calling people who enter the UK illegally "migrants" gives them a legitimacy they do not yet have. They, too, should more properly be called foreigners, or illegal aliens or possibly potential migrants since that is what they may hope to achieve - or, more likely, acquire the right to permanent residence (peculiarly called "Indefinite Leave to Remain") while keeping their original nationality so they can return "home" whenever they want.

It's International Men's Day!

The first TV Debate in the Run-up to the 2019 General Election is today. Today is, I'm told, International Men's Day. It's hard to believe, as there is no publicity for it, but let's hope some people make the most of it. In the 3 TV debates prior to the 2010 General Election Gordon Brown said his solution to Britain's immigration problems was a points system. He had already been Prime Minister for two and a half years so why hadn't he implemented a points system? Because it isn't a good idea. It's a smokescreen to confuse the electorate. David Cameron, who became Prime Minister, said 3 times in the 2010 debates, he wanted a cap on immigration. Now, senior Conservatives are saying they want a points system. What they could say, but don't, is that they will stop Muslims bringing 4 "wives" (and their children) to live in the UK. And stop foreign men using marriage to live here. (About 10,000 men a year take advantage of this loophole.) And deport illegals (of whom an estimated 1 million live in the UK).

"Welcome to the Asylum"

Run-up to the 12 December Election: Conservative politicians' talk of ending freedom of movement is insane. Everywhere (except perhaps North Korea) has freedom of movement. Will other countries reciprocate and deny freedom of movement to us Brits? Of course, what politicians are referring to is not tourism. They are referring to work visas. But that is not what they say. Presumably because they want to deceive. It is only EU citizens who don't require visas to work in the UK. Similarly, we don't need them to work in other EU countries. A character in "Alice in Wonderland" says that words mean what he wants them to mean. That way lunacy lies. "Welcome to the Asylum" was published by Centre for Policy Studies back in 2001. Its points are still valid, but it needs updating.

A Lesson for us All

When the mutineers took HMS Bounty to Pitcairn they also took with them 4 Tahitian men and some women - but fewer than the total number of men. That was one problem. Fletcher Christian didn't want to be a dictator. So the Britons had a Council. After a while they voted (by 1) to deprive the Tahitians of their land. Christian argued that this was such an important issue there should be a delay. (Brexit anyone?) One man told his wife, who told the Tahitian men. They went to their "marae" to decide what to do. They concluded they had no option but to kill all the Britons, including those they liked. They stole the guns. The ensuing fight resulted in only 3 survivors - hard-line mutineers. The women threw them out. When only one man survived, Alexander Smith, his wife pleaded for him to be allowed back. He taught the children their lessons. Sadly, Pitcairn these days still has big problems.

40 Years On

Most of the 39 people who died after entering the UK illegally a few days ago are thought to be Vietnamese. Mrs Thatcher was elected on 3 May 1979 with a large majority and a promise to curb immigration. But before the month of May was out she agreed that Vietnamese who had gone to Hong Kong be allowed to settle in the UK. It was obvious that once a community was established here that other Vietnamese would come. In 1980 I had legal aid for my divorce, so I applied for legal aid to bring a case of treason against Mrs Thatcher for allowing foreigners to live in the UK while Brits can't live in their countries. But the Law Society refused me the necessary Green Certificate. (Though legal aid is given for immigration cases.) 40 years ago in October 1979 a youngish man (me) cycled to London's Parliament Square in the pouring rain. The Press had said there would be a demonstration against Mrs Thatcher's election promise to stop foreign men from using marriage to live in the UK. There was not a soul around. Not even traffic. I left, but went back at lunchtime. It was just the same. No one. Still pouring heavily. On 30 October the Immigration Minister, Timothy Raison, announced the Government wouldn't be keeping its promise. When asked why by Douglas Stewart on Radio 4 "Tonight", he replied "Because of the fuss." The result is some 400,000 men (10,000 a year) live in these unfortunate islands. If they had all arrived at once perhaps people would have noticed.

We're all Puppets on a String

The Brexit imbroglio caused by politicians, lawyers, etc.(incl. voters) is caused by immigration which is also a big long ongoing muddle that is the result of disputes between politicians, lawyers, etc.(voters who want it and innocently pretend that the trouble it has caused has nothing to do with them). Immigration is also responsible for "equality" laws and for their offspring "positive action" which gives legal cover for prioritising everyone over native British men. The carers in a care home I visit are all foreign. They don't stay long. It's a fair bet that having established themselves here they then find more lucrative and less demanding work. So there is an endless turnover of staff. Immigration, like its offspring Brexit, is a not-very-Merry-go-round.

"Equality" = A Very Vicious Circle of Inequality

Foreign men are entitled by law to deprive Brits of work and promotion. The 1965 law led to the 1975 Sex Discrimination Act, which entitled women to deprive men of work and promotion. Although this law doesn't apply to immigration, as was determined by the House of Lords on 7 July 1983, its "teeth", the Equal Opportunities Commission, campaigned vigorously and successfully to defeat Mrs Thatcher's 1979 election manifesto promise to stop foreign men from using marriage to live in the UK. These foreign men are, of course, entitled to deprive.....etc. An endless vicious circle. Forced. And very vicious.

High Moral Ground

A fair and firm immigration system holds the moral high ground. This is not only because it protects the indigenous inhabitants (who probably have lethal defence forces for the same purpose) but protects foreigners from having to cope with inconsistencies and muddle. The USA used to have strict controls until 1965 when President Johnson relaxed them. Hence much of the present imbroglio and unhappiness. Most illegals have entered the USA illegally and overstayed. Word of their success naturally attracts others to follow suit. Allowing foreigners to occupy your country while your own citizens can't live in theirs is clearly unfair (= immoral). It is also unjust. And to add to this injustice "equality" laws enable foreigners to deprive citizens of work and promotion. Jesus famously believed in upholding the law. So it is unChristian to render assistance to illegals. It is also immoral.

Criminals in Cahoots

The 1965 Race Relations Act enables foreigners ("nationality" is specified) to deprive Brits of work. It inspired the 1975 Sex Discrimination Act which enables women to deprive men of work. But it was used to defeat Mrs Thatcher's 1979 election promise to stop foreign men being allowed to live in the UK through marriage. So that they are entitled to deprive native Brits of work, promotion, etc. The immigration and feminist industries are criminals in cahoots. Foreigners can see this; so why can't the Crown Prosecution Service?

Unblindfold Justice

Today is International Women's Day. 19 November is, I'm told, International Men's Day, but you wouldn't've known it. Foreign wives are entitled, because of "equality" laws and the positively unequal "positive action" (see this blog of 26 July 2018) to deprive British men of work and promotion both because they are foreign and female. This is clearly unjust. Lawyers say "We don't dispense justice; we dispense the law." Lawyers can create common law (8 November 2016). Muslims can bring four wives and their children to live in the UK. He has to marry one wife legally in the UK. If he is not British she is. He can then marry three Muslim women as long as it's Islamically in a Muslim country. They are then entitled to British passports and full state benefits as single people. For a country obsessed with "equality" this is clearly unequal.. and shouldn't be tolerated.

Mogged

Most people who vote for Brexit did so because of immigration. Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, leading Brexiteer who this morning spoke on BBC Radio 4 "Today" about this issue, is the son of the Editor of "The Times" who is partly responsible for about half a million foreign men (and their children) living in these islands. In 1969 James Callaghan, Home Secretary and later Prime Minister, stopped foreign men from using marriage to live in the UK. "The Times" ran a campaign against this, under the banner heading "The Law against Wives". The law was repealed in 1975. These wives can now, of course, live in two countries: their husband's and the UK. So they are very privileged, since most Brits can only live in one (apart from the EU)

Make a Difference

These blogs and all the many activities on Twitter don't make a blind bit of difference. But the alternative is to do nothing. And the Hope is that someone, somewhere, somehow will pick up the torch and something positive will result. The current imbroglio in Parliament about the UK leaving the European Union is the result of an individual, Gina Miller, bringing a court case and a judge determining that Brexit should be decided by Parliament. There are many legal cases about immigration. Legal aid is provided. So in 1980, when I had legal aid for my divorce, I applied for legal aid to bring a case of Treason against Mrs Thatcher for allowing foreigners to live and work in the UK while I (and other Britons) can't live and work in their countries. I believed I had a strong case. But the Law Society refused me the necessary Green Certificate. Please see this blog of 8 November 2016 for more on this.

Another fine Mess!

Most people voted Leave in the EU Referendum because "immigration"/"control our borders". But there is more immigration to the UK from outside the EU than from within. Iran and Vietnam want hard currency and don't take back failed asylum seekers. (Please see this blog of 9 January 2019.) Mrs Thatcher was elected in 1979 with the promise to curb immigration, but within weeks she had allowed Vietnamese and Iranians to settle permanently in the UK. With an established community already here, it is no wonder that other Vietnamese and Iranians see the UK as a good place to colonise. Tony Blair says the EU has changed its stance on freedom of movement since the 2016 EU Referendum. And Chuka Umunna MP says the Government can legally deport Romanians who scrounge off the UK state, but won't do it. Instead of reducing immigration by leaving the EU, we are poised to mess up the lives of the Irish, French.... and ourselves.

"Mein Struggle"

The new Immigration Bill is skills based. (BBC 4 "Today".) But no work skill is needed for marriage! Mrs Thatcher's 1979 promise to stop foreign men using marriage to live in the UK was defeated by a vigorous feminist campaign that was described by Patricia Hewitt, later Tony Blair's Equality Minister, as her "most satisfying achievement". She also compared it with women's struggle for the parliamentary vote. That struggle was about the control of territory; the more recent one about its occupation. Since roughly 10,000 foreign and Commonwealth men a year use marriage to live in the UK it has resulted in some 400,000 men (and their children) living in these islands.

Chicken Fiasco

Back in 1960, just before I had to leave Japan when my visa expired, I met a girl I wanted to marry. My last words to her were "I'll soon be back." But I never saw her again. In Hong Kong I was refused a visa. "You've seen enough of Japan," I was told. I got the same response elsewhere in S.E Asia. I was robbed in Saigon and my address book was taken. When I eventually got back to Japan I walked around the streets of Tokyo near where she lived, but I couldn't find her. In November 1962, as a result of an Anglo-Japanese Trade Agreement, Tourist Visas were dispensed with between the two countries. Coming only four months after the Commonwealth Immigration Act came into force it seemed to me that British policies were going in two different directions at once. A bit like Brexit. Which is caused mainly by immigration. The Brexit fiasco is self-inflicted. Mrs Thatcher didn't keep her 1979 election promise to stop foreign men using marriage to live in the UK because of a vigorous and selfish feminist campaign. As a result some 400,000 men and their children live in these islands. Foreigners are entitled to deprive Brits of work and promotion because of "equality" laws. Likewise, women can deprive men. Foreign women can twice over. Native British men are treated as inferiors in their own country. Foreigners know that. Brits either don't know or don't care; which presumably explains "positive action" - referred to here on 26 July 2018. The Brexit fiasco is chickens coming home to roost.

The Birth of England

I am currently reading Bernard Cornwell's latest novel "War of the Wolf". It tells of Athelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great, who, in the 10th century, was the first king to unite England. The blurb informs us that Bernard Cornwell worked for the BBC before meeting his American wife. "Denied an American work permit, he wrote a novel and has been writing ever since." By contrast, Americans living in the UK through marriage can not only work but - because of "equality" laws - are entitled to deprive Brits of work and promotion. King Athelstan's tomb is in Malmesbury Abbey. To touch it is to feel the birth of England. But "Is there any point in being English?" was the subject of this blog on 19 March 2018.

Gravedigger

The Gravedigger in "Hamlet" says that Hamlet is mad but no one will notice it in England because everyone there is mad. Scotland's King James VI became also King of England in 1603 and wanted the countries to unite politically. But neither the London nor Edinburgh Parliaments wanted it. The King did, however, unite the flag which we call the Union Jack (Jacobus being the Latin for James). So if Scotland has another Referendum and votes to leave the UK we will presumably still keep the same flag. 19th century Scots writer Thomas Carlyle said the British Empire will go some day, but we will always have our Shakespeare.

Friday 18 January 2019

Madhouse

Immigration caused the Madhouse by the Thames (please see 28 November 2018). But it is wrong to call Europeans who came to the UK "immigrants". Because many (most?) came to suss it out and would have gone home if they didn't like it. It is similar to the 1962 Commonwealth Immigration Act when many Afro-Caribbeans and Asians intended to go home, but didn't because they knew that if they did they wouldn't be able to live in the UK again. Another aspect of the Act was that it caused a rush of young men to get here before it came into force. There has always been freedom of movement in Western Europe. In 2004 Poland and other East European countries (not yet Romania & Bulgaria) joined the EU. For them freedom of movement was a main reason for joining. But existing EU countries (France, Germany, etc.) closed their borders to them. Tony Blair did the decent thing and didn't close UK borders, so naturally they all came here. The irony of that being a major reason for the UK now poised to leave the EU shouldn't be lost on anyone. There's more immigration to the UK from outside the EU than from within. Apart from asylum and illegals the main reason is chain migration (i.e. relatives). In 1979 the Conservatives promised to stop foreign men using marriage to live in the UK. But Mrs Thatcher's Government didn't keep its promise. 10,000 men a year were using marriage. This, I was told, isn't many. But that now comes to around 400,000. And they have children. Who marry.

Monday 14 January 2019

Cause for Celebration?

Today is Coming-of-Age Day in Japan, when 20-year-olds become adults. Every year there are more young men than young women. This year there are 640,000 men and 610,000 women. It is not good news for Japan that there is consistent disparity. Also, foreign men use marriage so they can live in Japan. And that exacerbates the shortage of young women. Not all Japanese men will be able to find wives or, worse, some men will marry someone they don't really want to. That must make for unhappiness all round, including men's mothers. Foreign men have been able to live and work in Japan through marriage since 1985, when the European Court of Human Rights determined in favour of 3 women whose husbands weren't allowed to live in the UK.

Wednesday 9 January 2019

Lethal Fiasco

Some Iranians claiming asylum in the UK have already been refused it in France, BBC News (8 January). 50% are granted asylum here and another 25% get it on appeal. We weren't told if the remaining 25% were deported. Nor why the French hadn't deported failed asylum seekers. For the authorities, it's easy to do nothing. Presumably the TV Reporter assumed as much and didn't ask. While that News was being broadcast yet another teenager was being stabbed to death in London. Immigration has caused lawlessness (clearly condoned by authorities) as well as the Brexit fiasco. 40 years ago Mrs Thatcher promised to curb immigration. But she didn't keep her 1979 promise to stop foreign men using marriage to live in the UK. With the result that some 400,000 men and their children live here. Also, within weeks of being elected in May 1979 Mrs Thatcher allowed Vietnamese and Iranians to take up permanent settlement here. So they know that if they can't get away with living in France they can here. Which is strange, since the law is supposed to be international. And not applied differently in different countries.
